BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Bloomington Thunder, a proud member of the United States Hockey League since 2014, announced on Monday the date of its home opener for the 2017-18 season.
The Thunder will open the home schedule of their fourth USHL season on Friday, Oct. 13, when they face the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at Grossinger Motors Arena.
As part of the home opener festivities, there will be a magnet schedule giveaway with the Thunder’s full 2017-18 schedule. The full promotional schedule, including more details on the home opener, will be released in the coming weeks.
Last season, the Thunder swept the season series from Cedar Rapids, including 4-1, 7-0, and 3-1 wins at home.
The USHL will release the full 2017-18 schedule on Tuesday, July 18.

The Bloomington Thunder are a member of the top junior hockey league in the United States, the United States Hockey League (USHL). The only Tier I junior hockey league in the country, the USHL has become renowned for developing the future talent of both Division I college hockey and the NHL. At the start of the 2016-17 season, there were 108 active NHL players who were USHL alumni.
