Known as the Bloomington Thunder from 2014-17, the Central Illinois Flying Aces rebranded for the 2017-18 season, its fourth season in the United States Hockey League. As a member of the USHL, the Flying Aces are a part of the United States' only Tier 1 junior hockey league and the top development league for both NCAA Division I and NHL talent. 

In just three seasons, the Flying Aces have helped nearly 40 players advance to the NCAA Division I level and have also cultivated five NHL Draft picks.
