Central Illinois to donate funds from jersey auction, 50/50 raffle to support fellow junior hockey team

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Central Illinois Flying Aces announced on Wednesday a pair of fundraising efforts to support the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

In the wake of last Friday’s tragic bus crash that involved the junior hockey team based in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, the Flying Aces will donate proceeds from the end-of-season jersey auction and this Saturday’s 50/50 raffle to the Broncos organization.

The online jersey auction is open immediately for bidding and allows fans the chance to win an authentic game-worn red Flying Aces jersey from the 2017-18 season, the first season under the Flying Aces identity and the organization’s fourth season total in the USHL. Fans can view all of the jerseys available in the auction and place bids by clicking on this link. The auction will close on Monday, April 16 at 5 p.m. Following the conclusion of the auction, the Flying Aces will donate 50 percent of all proceeds to the Broncos.

In addition to the jersey auction, the Flying Aces will also donate all the proceeds from Saturday night’s 50/50 raffle, which will take place at the final home game of the season at Grossinger Motors Arena in downtown Bloomington. Fans can purchase 50/50 raffle tickets outside of Section 110 at the Flying Aces Booster Club booth or from 50/50 raffle ticket sellers that will be positioned throughout the arena during the game.

As of this release, the Humboldt Broncos GoFundMe page had raised $8.7 million to help families and loved ones travel to Humboldt and aid in the medical and funeral costs for the players and staff involved in the accident.

Central Illinois hosts the Chicago Steel on Saturday night at 7:07 p.m. in its regular season and home finale. Fans can purchase tickets, which start as low as $8, by calling 309-434-2980 or visiting flyingaceshockey.com.
