The Central Illinois Flying Aces' 2018 Main Camp is part of the process of setting the roster for the 2018-19 season, which will be the organization's fifth as a member of the USHL. More than 150 players will participate at the camp, including returning players, affiliate list players, the Flying Aces' draft picks and free agents.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Central Illinois Flying Aces' 2018 Main Camp officially kicked off on Thursday as more than 150 prospects took the ice at Grossinger Motors Arena in downtown Bloomington for the first set of games.

Following four total games on Thursday, there will be eight games on Friday, the second full day of camp. Each team will play twice -- once in the morning and once in the evening session.

Goals from several highly touted draft picks highlighted the first day of camp. Trevor Janicke (Team Black), the first overall pick in the USHL Phase II Draft, found the back of the net along with 12th overall pick Chase Foley (Team Grey) and 15th overall pick Philip Elgestal (Team Grey). Stephen Halliday, the top pick in the 2018 USHL Phase I Draft, tallied for Team Purple.

Several returners also had strong starts to camp, including leading returning scorer and University of Michigan commit Calen Kiefiuk (Team Black), who had a pair of assists. Affiliate forward Nick Capone (University of Maine) had two goals for Team Gold in their 6-0 win. In that same game, Brady Smith (University of Wisconsin) dished out a pair of assists and Brady Meyer (University of Minnesota Duluth) picked up his first goal of camp.

Game Notes

  • Kaleb Ergang notched his first points of camp with a pair of assists in Team White's 5-2 triumph over Team Orange in the first game of the day. A 12th round pick in the 2018 USHL Phase II Draft, Ergang tabbed 26 points in 56 games for the Okotoks Oilers (AJHL) this past season.
  • Gramm McCormack and Peter Fleming both registered multi-goal games for Team White, the third and fourth multi-goal games of camp and the first two multi-goal games of day two.
  • Team Black improved to 2-0 with a 4-1 win over Team Gold. Calen Kiefiuk (University of Michigan) continued his hot start to camp and posted his second straight multi-point game, following a two-assist performance from Thursday. Kiefiuk had 12 multi-point outings during the 2017-18 season.
